Emsella cost in Malaysia: what decides the fee, and how many sessions studies used

Dr Ong Jin Khang · MMC 45245 · LCP holder · The Retreat Clinic, Setia Alam

Emsella has no single honest price in Malaysia, because the fee follows the number of sessions, the assessment and any maintenance, and most published studies used a course of six 28-minute sessions over three weeks. This page gives no price list. It shows what the studies used and what a quote should state, so two quotes for the Emsella chair can be compared on the same terms.

A fee follows the course.

How much does Emsella cost in Malaysia?

There is no honest single figure, and this page does not give one. The fee follows how much treatment is planned: how many sessions, whether any maintenance follows, and the doctor's time at assessment and review. People type "Emsella chair price", "Emsella treatment cost" or "harga Emsella" and often find a number with no session count beside it, so it cannot be compared with another. This clinic publishes no price list and does not quote a fee before the doctor has seen you.

The logic follows the clinic's guide to why aesthetic fees vary: a fee is only readable next to its dose. For the Emsella chair the dose is the number of sessions, their length and the review that decides whether to continue. Emsella pelvic floor treatment has its own page, and how Emsella works explains the mechanism.

How many Emsella sessions do the studies use?

Most studies read for this page used six sessions. In a 2019 study of 75 women, Samuels and colleagues gave six treatments, two a week, and measured symptoms after the sixth and at three months. A 2026 Thai study gave six sessions over three weeks to women with an ICIQ-UI SF score of 6 or more, and 57 completed it. The 2026 randomised trial by Kilicoz Bakar and colleagues used twice-weekly treatment for six weeks, which is twelve sessions, alongside supervised exercise. The 2026 sham-controlled pilot by Chan and colleagues treated women once a week for six weeks.

So six sessions over three weeks is the most common published pattern, and twelve over six weeks is on record as well. Both are protocols for research and neither is a rule for one person. It is also why a quote that says only "Emsella, one course" leaves out the part that sets the cost. At this clinic Emsella is priced as a course, not per session.

How long is each session, and does it change the fee?

In the trials a session lasted 28 minutes, seated and fully clothed. At this clinic a session is about thirty minutes, with no probe, no preparation and no downtime. Session length is rarely what moves a fee. The count of sessions is, and so is the time a doctor spends before the first one.

A quote should say how many sessions it covers and what a session includes. If the number of sessions is left out, the figure on the page describes nothing you can check.

Are maintenance sessions part of the plan?

No study read for this page describes maintenance sessions. The Samuels study followed women to three months, the Thai study to three months and the Chan pilot ended after its six weekly sessions, with the authors saying larger, longer-term work is needed to assess durability. Anything said about how long a result lasts, or how often to return, goes beyond what these studies measured.

The practical position is simpler. The pelvic floor holds its strength with use and loses it without. Some people keep the result with pelvic floor exercises after the course, and others return for occasional sessions. Which of those makes sense is planned at the end-of-course review, against how symptoms actually responded. If a quote includes maintenance, ask what it consists of and when it is decided.

What does the assessment cover, and who sees you?

At this clinic Dr Ong sees the Emsella patients, and the chair is the second step. The first is an assessment of what kind of leakage this is. Stress incontinence comes from a floor that is not strong enough under sudden pressure, which is what the chair trains. Urge leakage is driven by the bladder itself, and a mixed picture needs sorting out. Leakage that arrives with pain, blood, fever or a sudden change is a medical work-up before anything else. Bladder leakage and the pelvic floor sets out these distinctions.

The assessment is a real part of the fee, because it decides whether the chair belongs in the plan at all. Ask whether it is included in the quote, and whether a review at the end of the course is too. Staff position you during each session so the energy lands where it should; the doctor decides the plan.

When should a pelvic floor physiotherapist or urogynaecologist come first?

Supervised pelvic floor muscle training, usually physiotherapy-led, is the recognised first-line treatment for stress incontinence, and this clinic does not provide it. If the main problem is technique, with the muscle not being found or used properly, teaching comes before a chair. The trials point the same way: in the Kilicoz Bakar trial both groups did supervised training and the group that added the chair improved more on three measures, and in the Serbanescu comparison of 99 postmenopausal women the group that added a Kegel programme to Emsella did better than Emsella alone at three months. In the Chan pilot, which had a sham chair in the comparison group, the groups did not differ significantly over time.

A urogynaecologist comes first when there is prolapse beyond a mild degree, which is also why the Thai study excluded prolapse above stage 2. The same applies to leakage with blood, pain or a sudden change in pattern. The article on leaking after children and what is worth doing goes through the order of options, and Emsella side effects, who should not have it, and the first session covers who is screened out. Paying for a course before this has been sorted is the costly way round.

What should an Emsella quote list?

Ask how many sessions it covers, and whether it is one session or a course. Ask what a session includes and how long it lasts. Ask whether the assessment is included, and whether a review at the end of the course is too. Ask who sees you and what the plan is if more or fewer sessions are advised. Ask about maintenance: whether any is included, and how it is decided. Ask which device it is, and for its registration number.

A clinic that answers these plainly has told you more than a price list could.

Why does a low Emsella quote deserve questions?

A low quote does not prove anything is wrong, and a high one does not prove care. It is a reason to ask, and three checks are quick. First, the device: anyone can search the Medical Device Authority's public register under the Medical Device Act 2012, so ask for the registration number and look it up. A quote that uses the word Emsella does not by itself say which machine is behind it.

Second, who sees you: how to check a doctor's MMC number and LCP takes a few minutes. Third, what is included: sessions, assessment and review. If the answers are vague, the low number may be for fewer sessions, no assessment or a different device, and the quote is not comparable.

The honest complication

None of this tells you what a fair fee is, and this page does not try to. The published Emsella studies are small, mostly uncontrolled, and follow people for three months or less. The one sham-controlled pilot found no significant difference between its groups over time. A fee can be high for sound reasons or for none, and low for the same. The only reliable comparison is between quotes that state the same sessions, assessment and review. If they do not, you are comparing two different products with one name.

Common questions

How much does Emsella cost in Malaysia?

There is no single honest figure, because the fee follows the number of sessions, the assessment and any maintenance, all set once the doctor has seen you. A quote is easier to judge once it states the sessions it covers and who sees you. This clinic publishes no price list and does not quote a fee before the doctor has seen you.

How many Emsella sessions do I need?

Most published studies used six 28-minute sessions over three weeks. One randomised trial used twelve, twice a week for six weeks, and one pilot used six weekly sessions. At this clinic a course is usually six sessions over about three weeks, confirmed at assessment because the starting point varies.

Is the Emsella price per session or for the whole course?

At this clinic Emsella is priced as a course, not per session. Whichever clinic you ask, a quote should say whether it covers one session or a course, how many sessions the course holds, and what happens if the doctor advises more or fewer after a review.

Do I need Emsella maintenance sessions?

No published study read for this page describes maintenance sessions, and the longest follow-up among them was three months. Some people keep the result going with pelvic floor exercises and others return for occasional sessions, which is planned at the end-of-course review rather than promised in advance.

Should I see a pelvic floor physiotherapist before Emsella?

Supervised pelvic floor muscle training is the recognised first-line treatment for stress incontinence, and this clinic does not provide it. Prolapse beyond a mild degree goes to a urogynaecologist, and leakage with pain, blood, fever or a sudden change goes to a medical work-up first. The assessment decides which road comes first.
